CH L’Eau by Carolina Herrera was launched in 2011 as the second special edition of CH from 2007, after CH Garden Party. CH is indeed becoming a quite popular line by the Spanish fashion designer and – just like it happened for Carolina Herrera 212 – many more special editions are expected to follow.
In the opening the perfume has brief memories of the praline notes of the original CH, but without the earthy vetiver, and with a rapid shift towards red sugar-sweet fruits. There is also a secondary line of red bitter oranges – which reminds of a less intense version of Amor Amor by Cacharel – and a floral background with freesias. In the middle notes, the aroma is dominated by soft florals, mainly freesias with gardenias, with also traces of citrus fruits, like and madarin bergamot, which blend well with freesia as time passes.
The fragrance will keep the same structure for one hour, until a powdery rose stands out, with traces of red fruits like strawberry. In the final phase, the intensity of CH L’Eau is low, and the perfume will remain at skin level with little or no trail. It is mainly floral, with freesias and roses still dominant, but also gardenias and magnolias on a secondary level (it reminds of a fresher and younger version of Jo Malone perfume Lotus Blossom and Water Lily).
This version of CH is closer to Garden Party than the original, as it is more loaded with florals and with little or no gourmand praline notes. In the office, most of its floral notes will feel suitable and soft, giving out a clean image. For a night use however, the bouquet won’t have enough intensity and presence to stand out among more aggressive fragrances. The correct age to start wearing it is quite young and goes from 15 to 45.
