Summer is the best time of the year to get rid of your heavy boots and shoes and free your feet by daring to go bare with flip-flops. But to display your tootsies at their best, it is always a good idea to treat yourself to some pampering with a professional pedicure, and then to add some extra touches such as a bright colored nail polish and maybe a glittering diamond toe ring to really add some pizzazz.
The online stores and malls now have hundreds of toe ring designs to choose from, so it will be a lot of fun going shopping for some to fit your personal style. Many of them are very inexpensive, made from sterling silver or from cheaper metals with silver or gold outer layers. This means it is very cheap to build a collection of different ones, so that you can change your design everyday, or coordinate your outfit with your jewelry. Of course, for special occasions there are also more expensive ones, so you might choose to buy a diamond toe ring to wear on special occasions when you want something a little more dazzling.
If you are going to buy a very expensive toe ring, one of the most important things to remember is to ensure that it fits snugly. It can be quite easy for these pieces of jewelry to slip off your toes without being noticed until much later on, and it will be upsetting to lose such a valuable ring. There are two types of toe rings available in general. The first and most common ones are the split or adjustable toe rings, which unsurprisingly have a split in one side of them, to allow you to stretch or squeeze the ring to fit whichever toe you decide to wear it on – except the big toe! There are a couple of downsides to adjustables though. They usually have the pattern or design on the opposite side to the split, which means if the ring slides around your toe, you end up hiding the cute design. And of course, it is all too common for the split in the ring to grab and pinch your toes while wearing them, which is sometimes quite painful.
The second main type of ring is the fitted toe ring, which is certainly the one you should be aiming to buy if you are looking for a precious metal or diamond toe ring. This type forms a full circle without any split, which makes it more difficult for it to slip off and disappear. Unfortunately, it also means that they need to be sized properly and cannot simply be switched from one toe to any of the others. The prices are higher for fitted toe rings, but if you are paying for a diamond, this extra cost will be easy to accept because of the increased security against losing it. Other benefits are also immediately obvious, because fitted rings will not pinch your toes as you wear them, and in many cases, a pretty design covers the whole circumference of the ring, so it will be perfectly fine if it slides around your toe when you’ve got it on.
